1. Embedding Reason

Most people find it hard to get up early because they don’t have a good reason to do so. If you want to be an early riser, you must find a reason that is important enough to you.

For instance, making more money can be used as a motivator for getting up early in the morning so that you have enough time to fufil your goals.

Having a good reason alone will allow you to prepare for an early rise.

2. Get the Right Amount of Sleep

This is an obvious tip that has been proven to work. Many people who have problems getting up early in the morning usually don’t get the minimum recommended hours of sleep nightly. They tend to undersleep or oversleep.

Adults should get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep every night, while children should get an average of 10 to 11 hours of sleep. Failure to get the recommended hours of sleep results in constant tiredness which makes it extremely hard to wake up early.

3. Sleep Early

Another obvious tip that is ignored by many people is to sleep early. You can’t go to bed late and expect to wake up early without struggling. You have to make sure that you hit the sheets before midnight. This means that you have no choice but to rearrange your evening schedule if necessary, and then adapt to it.

One of the main reasons why people oversleep is due to feeling tired in the morning. If you go to bed late and try to wake up early, you’ll definitely feel tired which in turn will likely cause you to oversleep and start your day late.

4. Sleep Comfortably

If you happen to have slept the recommended hours but you’re still feeling tired, then chances are that you aren’t sleeping comfortably.

Do some research on Amazon for the best pillows and mattresses especially if you have neck and back pains, and see just how much difference it makes to how you feel when you wake up early.

5. Don’t Extend Your Sleeping Hours

Most people are tempted to extend their sleeping hours. They hit the snooze button and tell themselves “just 5 more minutes” then end up waking up 20 minutes late for work. If you want to be an early riser, the option of extending your sleep hours shouldn’t exist, not even for a minute.

You probably know the feeling of naturally waking up feeling fresh, then falling back asleep because you “still have time”, only to wake up feeling tired.

Extending your sleeping hours only leads to procrastination and more tiredness. Allow your body to naturally awaken and it will adapt itself to your desired time.

6. Jump out of Your Bed

Immediately you hear the sound of your alarm clock, you should jump out of you bed instantly. One of the main reasons why people oversleep is because of staying in bed after the alarm clock sounds.

It can often be difficult to stay awake when you’re still inside your warm bed. No matter how uncomfortable it may seem, jumping out of your bed ensures that you get the wheels in motion. Don’t stay stationary when you’ve done that, but instead, quickly jump in the shower to freshen yourself and get ready for the day ahead.

7. Keep a Loud Alarm out of Reach

how to wake up earlyHaving an alarm clock doesn’t necessarily translate to waking up early. Your alarm clock needs to be loud and annoying. You also need to place your alarm clock away from your bed so that you are forced to get off your bed every morning to switch it off.

This is a common sense tip that works well. Placing your alarm clock at arm’s length from your bed is all too easy to just reach out and hit the snooze button. Better yet, get an alarm that allows you to blare out one of your favorite songs.

8. Establish a Routine

Regardless of whether you are employed, self employed or unemployed, you must have a stable routine everyday that you’ll perform without fail. The more important the tasks in the routine, the better it is for you.

It’s a good idea to make a commitment to helping someone do something at a certain time so you may feel that you cannot let them down. For example, you may commit to walking (or running) your friend’s dog in the morning. Everyone in that situation benefits from it.

9. Eat Healthy

Eating healthy foods ensures that your body gets all the necessary nutrients to remain energized and healthy. If you have a habit of eating unhealthy foods, you are more likely to have problems waking up early because your body won’t have adequate nutrients for proper replenishing.

However, eating healthy is good but you must also know when to eat. It’s said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gets your metabolism going for the day and puts you in a good mood. At night, your body system needs a break from performing its functions so make sure that you don’t eat anything just before going to sleep.

If you want a program to help you maintain a healthy diet, then I recommend the 30 Day Fighter’s Diet Program, which has helped amateur and pro athletes shed weight while retaining optimum strength.

10. Seek Help From Others

Waking up early is usually very difficult and can be mental just as much as physical. If worst comes to worst, consider seeking help from others. You can request family members or your spouse to wake you up at a specific time. You can also consider having a motivated friend call you daily early in the morning.

Be clear with your instructions to whoever it is you call upon to help you. When you do hear them waking you up, it’s easy to feel grumpy but just remind yourself that this is what you asked for. Taking your anger out on them will just leave you feeling guilty.
